Nina Heyen
I started to write poetry one day. Just like that.
Words simply began to flow from my heart into that little notebook in front of me.
Words I wish someone had told me, in those times when life was difficult and I lost my way. Words that reconnected me to my soul and to the sacred part of life.
It soon became clear that those words were not only meant for me. They were meant to be shared, to inspire and lift up others in need of remembering who they are.
This is how it began...
...and it changed everything.
I finally found what I had been looking for for so long. A coming home; the seemingly disparate pieces of the puzzle of my life finally falling into place. It suddenly all made sense. I found my calling. It was that simple.
And then the real work began.
Showing up as your real self is the toughest and most courageous thing you'll ever do. I stumbled, I fell, I doubted, I almost threw it all away again, but it wouldn't let me go... You can't deny who you are, and trying to live as someone else will forever make you miserable.
So I'm learning
bit by bit,
day by day,
to create not just my art
but myself and my life,
in the image of the vision
burning in my soul,
calling me,
like I know it calls you
for there is another version of you:
raw, real, radiant... find it!
And thus my work is dedicated to the seekers and dreamers, the scholars and lovers of life, the change-makers, healers, trailblazers and alchemists - the believers in and creators of a better world. May my work help you do yours...
